Thank you to everyone who submitted a historical moment in Women's History.
If you identify as a woman:
How have YOU made history in your own way?
Celebrate Women's History Month!
If you do not identify as a woman:
How has a woman in your life-whether that's in your family, within a profession or in the wider community- made history ?
My mother, Delois Williams, gave birth to 10 children, and understanding the systemic issues associated with the public school system and the importance of education, she decided to homeschool all of us from K-12. She currently has three children with PhDs, one with a JD, four with a master’s, and two with a bachelor’s. She is the most amazing woman I have ever known, and she continues to look out for and support us to this day—a powerful woman of history.
Malcolm Williams
I am the first woman graduating with a doctorate degree in my family as of May 18, 2023! Now that’s history! 😊
Arianne A. Jennings, LCPC
My mom is a first generation American who put herself through a part-time nursing program and then a “night school” MBA program – all while raising three kids and joining the recovery community. She retired (reluctantly) as a health care leader. She’s an experienced world traveler on a shoestring budget, often traveling solo, hiking and staying in hostels, maintaining the cautious frugality of her parents’ generation. IDK if she’s a “first” at anything, but she’s pretty amazing to me.

I was the first woman to earn both a first and second degree black belt in the martial arts (Japanese kobudo) that I used to trained in.
